As we drove to north St. Louis County to the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area, we were sure we would be the only people there during a torrential downpour. To our surprise, it was FULL of photographers being creative with full light kits, a group of kids staging a themed photo for a magazine and flower enthusiasts getting into the thick of the sunflowers and admiring the massive field as far as the eyes could see.
My husband and my boys humored me as we sloshed through the mud to the fields for a quick and messy photo shoot..I can’t believe they are almost 6 & 9 and that they cooperated! A couple of tips before you go, grab some towels and some bug spray!
“Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows. It’s what the sunflowers do.”
